Astor Place Plaza, Manhattan | October 1, 2026
On October 1, 2026, Visual Street Ads completed a NYC stencil advertising installation at Astor Place Plaza for a Caitlin Clark Nike shoe-release activation. Our team installed 12 pairs of footprint graphics and one large CC logo. After the event, we removed all of the stencil designs and cleaned up the plaza.
For a product launch, the work starts before the first graphic reaches the ground and continues after the event closes. This project brought together custom stencil preparation, on-site installation and removal—three parts of the service that brands and event agencies need to plan together.

Bringing a footwear launch into the event space
Nike announced October 1 as the global release date for the Nike Caitlin 1, Caitlin Clark’s first signature shoe. Read Nike’s launch announcement.
For the Astor Place activation, the footprint design connected the event graphics directly to footwear. Detailed sole patterns gave the artwork more character than a plain shoe outline, while the CC logo provided a larger identity mark within the installation.
The concept shows how a product’s visual details can become part of a physical event. A recognizable shape, repeated at an appropriate scale, can carry a theme through a space. Here, footprints and a large logo created two complementary elements for the same launch.
Custom footprint stencil preparation: from cutout to blue sample
The white stencil shows a complete left-and-right footprint pair with detailed tread cutouts. The blue sample shows how those shapes transferred onto a separate board during preparation. Together, they explain the design more clearly than a digital rendering alone.
For clients commissioning custom stencil graphics, the sample stage is a useful point to review proportions, color appearance and fine details. Narrow gaps, small shapes and the space between the two footprints all affect how the finished graphic reads. Reviewing the physical sample helps identify questions before on-site work begins.

Installing 12 footprint pairs and a large CC logo at Astor Place
Visual Street Ads installed 12 pairs of footprints—24 individual shoeprints—and one large CC logo for the October 1 event. The repeated pairs carried the footwear theme through the installation, while the logo introduced a larger graphic element.
Our contribution covered the stencil work and its removal. For event producers, defining that scope clearly is useful: stencil preparation, graphic quantities, installation access and the return visit for cleanup can all be coordinated around the wider event schedule.
Stencil removal and plaza cleanup after the event
When the event ended, the Visual Street Ads team removed all of the stencil designs and cleaned up the plaza. The removal work was part of completing the activation, alongside the installation itself.
For a temporary event, a clear cleanup plan gives the production team a defined closeout task. The brief should identify when removal begins, which graphics are included, who handles the work and what access is available after the event. Agreeing on those details early helps avoid an unclear handoff at the end of a long production day.
Surface and material choices also affect removal. Each project needs its own assessment; a method suitable for one surface may not suit another. Discussing those conditions before installation helps set realistic expectations for the display period and cleanup work.
What brands and agencies should include in a stencil brief
A useful brief makes it easier to quote the work accurately and organize the crew around the event. For a NYC stencil advertising project, send:
- Event date, location and the available installation and removal windows.
- Artwork or a design reference, graphic dimensions and the number of placements.
- Photographs of the intended surface and a placement plan, if available.
- Color requirements and whether a physical sample is needed.
- Venue requirements, placement permissions and the on-site contact.
- Whether the scope includes stencil production, installation, removal, cleanup and photography.
If some details are still being finalized, start with the date, location, artwork and estimated quantities. Those give us a practical starting point for discussing the scope and next steps.
Questions about event stencil installation in NYC
Can you install custom footprints and large logos?
Yes. This Astor Place project included both repeated footprint pairs and a large CC logo. Share your artwork and intended dimensions so we can review the stencil and installation requirements.
Can installation and removal be included in one project?
Yes. Visual Street Ads handled both for this activation. For a new event, we confirm the surface, materials, access and cleanup requirements before agreeing on the scope.
How much does a stencil campaign cost?
Pricing depends on stencil complexity, graphic sizes, quantity, surface conditions, access hours and the work required after the event. Send those details for a project-specific quote.
What kinds of events can use stencil graphics?
Custom graphics can be considered for product launches, sneaker releases, pop-ups and other brand activations. The concept needs to suit the event space, surface and approved placement plan.
